Interpretation / Description

12th Gyalwang Karmapa, Changchub Dorje (1703-1732)

In the center of the composition is the Gyalwang Karmapa in a teaching gesture, and in the upper left is Tsasum Drildrup (Amitayus, Gyalwa Gyaltso and Mahakala Bernagchen combined). Below this multi-armed deity is Yonge Mingyur Dorje (1628/41-1708). To the left of Karmapa, holding a skull-cup is Choje Lingpa (1682-1720/1725). The figure adjacent wearing the blue shirt is the 7th Nenang Pawo Rinpoche, Gawai Wangpo (1718/19-1781). The protector riding an elephant is Karnak.
