The Drugpa Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism was founded by Tsangpa Gyare (1161-1211). He was a student of Pagmodrupa and descended from the spiritual line of Marpa, Milarepa and Gampopa. These paintings are believed to have been created by Gega Lama in the 1960s for Khamtrul Rinpoche.
