The paintings below are from a much larger set depicting the deities and lineage teachers of the Rechung Nyan Gyu Cycle of tantric practice special to the Rechungpa 'School' of Marpa Kagyu. Rechungpa was a yogi practitioner and student to the famous Milarepa of Tibet. Rechungpa is also known for his teachings on the Buddha of Long Life, Amitayus (see lineage) and Black Garuda. Another painting from this set, with the subject of Tsang Nyon Heruka, has been located in a private American collection. (See a Manjushri painting related by style and atelier).
