Chokyi Jungne, the 8th Situ Panchen (1700-1774): portrayed as the patron for the set of Avadana Kalpalata paintings, along with a written proclamation; the twenty-fifth and last painting in the Avadana series.
With a regal appearance, the right hand is raised and the left holds a folio book in the lap. Wearing the orange and red patchwork robes of a fully ordained monk, the head is adorned with the orange vajra crown of the Situpas; emblazoned with three jewels, a crescent moon and sun. Engaged in various activities, many lamas, monks, artists and attendants fill the foreground. White Tara the patron meditational deity of Chokyi Jungne sits at the upper right.
Art Represented in Art: at the top left a large scroll has been inscribed with a proclamation by Situ Panchen Chokyi Jungn. At the lower left an artist draws a Buddha figure on a canvas.
