Interpretation / Description

Two mandalas from the Sarvavid Maha Vairochana cycle of from the Sarvadurgati Parishodhana tantra.

The upper mandala depicts Trailokyavijaya and the Nine Bhairavas. The lower mandala depicts Trailokyavijaya and the Eight Mahadevas. At the bottom left side is a donor figure, students and a cityscape scene. In the middle of the composition are the Three Great Red Ones Takkiraja, Maharakta Ganapati and Kurukulla. These three belong to the set known as the Thirteen Golden Dharmas of Sakya.
