Dusum Khyenpa was the founder of the Karma (Kamtsang) branch of the Marpa Kagyu Lineage. He served as Abbot of Daglha Gampo monastery after Gampopa and founded Tsurphu monastery - becoming the seat of the incarnate Karmapa teaching line.
Kar ma pa Biographical Details
With an older appearance, furrowed brow, gray hair and beard, he performs the gesture of meditation in the lap with the right hand over the left. Attired in the robes of a fully ordained monk with the artist's addition of decoarative patterns made with copper, silver and gold inlay, he sits in vajra posture atop a single lotus blossom seat.
