Interpretation / Description

The 1st Jetsun Dampa, Zanabazar: with the hands holding a vajra scepter and bell. According to popular belief this depiction was intended for the Mongolian clergy while the depiction of him cutting the tail fat from a carcass was intended for the laity. The first Panchen Lama is portrayed in a painting above the throne.
