Interpretation / Description

Maitreya. Tibet, 15th century, bronze with silver inset eyes,copper lips and inset semiprecious stones. Approx 7 7/8"/ 20cm. Compare to Ulrich vonSchroeder, Indo-Tibetan Bronzes, 133G; Maitraya in the collection of the National Museum of History, State Museum of Ethnology, Munich, Germany (illustrated in the The Catalogue of Tibetan Artifacts, 1994).
