Video: Shrisena System of Eighty-four Mahasiddhas

The Shrisena system of mahasiddhas appears to be different from but somewhat based on the Abhayadatta system, also known as the Abhayakara Gupta system. The first three siddha and the last three siddha in the Shrisena system are identical to the Abhayadatta system. After that the list of names follows a different order and changes the names of at least half or more of the listed figures. It is interesting to note that the Shrisena system also includes three female figures, Kanapa, Melakhala and Lakshminkara, two of which are also included in the Abhayadatta system. So far only two paintings have been identified as following the Shrisena system although neither in a perfect listed order identical to the textual list of Shrisena.
