Bon Deity: Machig Lhamo

Bon Navigation Pages: Bon Religion Main Page

A female protector deity with one face and two hands riding atop a horse/donkey/mule/kyang. She has the general appearance similar to Magzor Gyalmo found in Tibetan Buddhism. It is likely that Machig Lhamo is explained as a form of the senior protector Sipai Gyalmo, the principal protector deity of the Bon Religion. Machig Lhamo is depicted in the painting and sculpture of the Bon Sarma Tradition.
