Chokyi Gyatso, 3rd Katog Situ Rinpoche (1880-1923/25 [TBRC P706]). One of the paintings below with the life-like features was probably modeled after a black and white photo of Chokyi Gyatso taken prior to his death. The place name of 'katog' is also found with the alternate English spelling of 'kathok', or 'kathog'. The term 'situ' or 'tai situ' is of Chinese language origin and a title given to number of different Tibetan teachers by various Chinese emperors over the centuries.

Four of the examples below depict Katog Monastery in the background with the large main temple, Copper-coloured Mountain temple and the monks quarters surrounding.
