Village art can be descibed as unsophisticated with reference to line, colour and composition, sometimes described as handicraft. The artists are most often untrained or self taught learning primarily from copying other scrollworks, murals, and in modern times, copying fom published art books or images on the internet.

Sometimes Village Art is sold as Souvenir Art outside of temples or at the entrance. Unsophisticated art can easily be confused for fake or suspect art.
