Buddhist Deity: Karma Tansung

Karma Kagyu Tradition

Karma Tansung: a 'gyalpo' spirit subjugated by Tai Situ Pema Nyingje (1774-1853) and made into a worldly protector deity of Palpung Monastery of the Karma Kagyu Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Another informant has stated that the protector was subjugated by the 11th Tai Situ, Pema Wangchug Gyalpo (1886-1952). The history of Karma Tansung requires further research.

The protector is known by a number of different names: Karma Tansung, Padma Tankyong, Padma Tansung, Ko Shong Go, and Palpung Kor Dag. (See more on Tibetan Spirits).
