Shambhala King: peaceful in appearance, blue in colour, he holds a curved knife in the right hand and a skullcup in the left held up to the heart. He is finely attired in regal garments and sits in a relaxed half vajra posture in a four wheeled chariot, with a canopy roof, drawn by seven lions in alternating blue and white colours. A consort sits to his right side, blue in colour, holding an axe in the right hand and performing a wrathful gesture with the left.
It is possible that the subject of this composition is the same as one of the two missing paintings from the Palpung Composition Set 3: the left 3rd and the left 15th paintings.
