Interpretation / Description

Dusum Kyenpa, 1st Gyalwa Karmapa

Dusum Kyenpa, 1st Karmapa (1110-1193) in the center and his teacher Ga Lotsawa Zhonnu Pel (1110-1202) on the upper left corner. Vairocanavajra of Nalanda Monastery wearing the white robes faces Dusum Kyenpa, beneath is Jigten Sumgon, the founder of the Drikung Kagyu school. Beside him is Taklung Tangpa Chenpo (1142-1210), founder of Taklung Monastery. On the lower right of Dusum Kyenpa is Namkha O, adjacent is Tsangpa Gyare, the founder of Drukpa Kagyu. Chaturbhuja Mahakala is below the central figure.
