Interpretation / Description

Tegchog Dorje, 14th Karmapa (1798/99-1868/69).

In the centre of the painting is the 14th Gyalwang Karmapa, Tegchog Dorje. At the top right of the painting is Korwa Dongdrug, a form of Red Avalokitesvara from Chogyur Lingpa's terma tradition. The two figures below wearing red hats are the incarnate teachers named rje dbon chos dbang sprul sku and rje dbon don grub sprul sku. At the lower left is the protector Tseringma riding a snow lion.
