Interpretation / Description

Kakyab Dorje, 15th Karmapa (1870/71–1921/22).

The central figure holding a vajra and bell is the 15th Karmapa, Kakyab Dorje. At the upper right corner is the meditational deity Gyalwa Gyatso (Jinasagara Lokeshvara). To the lower right of Kakyab Dorje is the 1st Palpung Khyentse (alternatively Beru Khyentse, 1896-1945), who was considered the mind emanation of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo (1820-1892). Below that is Karma Ngedon Tengye. At the lower left is Shri Devi Rangjung Gyalmo embracing Mahakala Bernagchen.
